automatic hoover can mop and vacuum without needing your attention, and it will leave your floors clean. Its price is affordable and its high-end features (such as a dirt detector) are both positives.
Make sure you regularly inspect your robot's brushes for hair that is tangled as well as large debris and wash them if needed. Some models will also empty the dust bin on board and then deposit it in an additional bin located at the base. This can reduce the amount of fine dust that gets released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 Pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive counterpart, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we have examined. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floorplans and avoid household obstacles such as cords and furniture leg. They also feature carpet boost, a feature which boosts the robot's power when it sees the presence of dirt on the carpet in order to get it cleaned quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare and are especially adept at cleaning hair from dogs. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first choice. One of the flaws of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on shoes and socks, and it couldn't navigate densely packed rooms very well during our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
However, it's a good choice to consider, particularly if you're looking to save money on an iRobot Roomba and you have a mostly bare-floor home or office. Plus, it's very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or at school. The only thing it's missing that you won't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes, which don't stick on well and aren't able to take on dried-on debris. The Q5 does have self-emptying docks, however. And, if you have to change the mopping pad to a dry one in seconds.
2. iRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its agile navigation and intelligent cleaning maps make it simple to clean and efficient in tackling larger particles like pet hair. It also has strong suction and self-emptying bin. It's the best robotic hoover for carpets but it falls behind some competitors in terms of deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the patterns of your home over time to provide cleaner and more efficient cleaning. The app lets you modify zones and alter the cleaning schedule. It comes with a battery life that is comparable to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can instruct it to remove and extend its mops. This can help avoid cross contamination. The flex arm is perfect for getting under low-lying furniture and along baseboards. It doesn't offer the same level of washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop in the market to clean an entire house, finishing with the battery at 66 percent left. It did a decent cleaning job on various flooring and rooms with different flooring types including certain area carpets. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's a bit more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can even clean the floor after vacuuming this feature, which hasn't been seen in other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination is sleek and has a circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba model than the bulky models from the competitors. It's among our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The newest model from iRobot is its most advanced, with advanced features including Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our evaluations. This is thanks to a mix of modern sensors, including a restructured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could refill and empty its basestation on its own. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa as well as self-cleaning mop mops.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It has a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only real drawback is that it's loud which could be problematic if you run it in the morning prior to work or at night as you try to sleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as expensive as Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and look better. If you're willing to put up some more volume and a little more cost it's a efficient two-in-one device that should satisfy most people.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot vacuum and mop. It has a number of advanced features that will help you forget your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning machine like Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, and washes and dries the mop pads.
The smart robot employs the combination of LIDAR and structured light to map out the floor plan and detect obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a camera mounted on the front for real-time hazard detection, although this wasn't quite foolproof in our testing and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
Its vacuum has a suction capacity of 7,000 Pascals, which is more than enough to finish the job. It also comes with an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", which regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the home based on how dirty the areas tend to be.
For bigger homes, it's worth opting for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you own a number of furniture. Finally a recharge and resume function that allows your robot vacuum to pick up right where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you would imagine from its price. It does a stellar job cleaning, removing 55% of the debris that was found in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses using only one pad and a reciprocating movement that is more efficient than most of the mop cleaners with robots that we've tried. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying washable base.
The well-designed iRobot application guides you through a mapping session that collects data about your floorplan and any "no-go" areas you set on the map. It can be used to make cleaning schedules, arrange the perfect spot for cleaning or prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app comes with a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It also has the ability to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a powerful suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs that are intelligent for pet hair. It also has the ability to create a spot-clean that scours a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a sleeker and cheaper alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It does a good job vacuuming, but is more prone to be caught by low thresholds and is a bit more noisy than the other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
